The CompTIA A+ certification is the starting point for a career in Information Technology (IT). You earn it by passing two exams. These exams cover maintenance of PCs, mobile devices, laptops, operating systems and printers. CompTIA reports that more than 900,000 people have earned the A+ certification and it is required for many entry level IT jobs.

You can earn the CompTIA Network+ certification by passing a single exam.  The exam covers network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, and security. Candidate job roles include network administrator, network technician, network installer, help desk technician and IT cable installer.

You can earn the CompTIA Security+ certification by passing a single exam.  The exam covers network security, compliance and operational security, threats and vulnerabilities, application security, data security, host security, access control and identity management, and cryptography. Candidate job roles include security engineer, security consultant, network administrator, and IA technician or manager.
